Silicon plays an
important role in production of various industrial products in
general and steel making in particular.
Bhutan Ferro Alloys Limited (BFAL), which is the first industrial
venture in Bhutan, harnessing the local minerals and cheap
hydroelectric power to produce various Ferro alloys.
The finished products namely, Ferro Silicon, Magnesium Ferro Silicon
and Silica Fume (Micro Silica) have been well accepted both in the
Indian and the international market, mainly in terms its consistency

Expansion of BFAL |
|
In order to
consolidate its position as one of the major Ferro alloys producers,
the Company has already finalized the order for procuring an 18 MVA
smelting furnace to produce other Silicon and manganese alloys. The
proposed expansion will be commissioned sometime during end of 2005.
